What should he do? Well for starters he should never touch anything under the hood of any car again, ever.

If you are being serious do this:

Drain the oil and look for coolant in the oil. If there is coolant then you probably need to pull the head and put a new head gasket in and pray that you didn't warp the head. He should get the head resurfaced anyway to be safe. Once you have the oil drained, disconnect the fuel-injection relay (brown thing near the fuses under the change holder), remove spark plugs, now crank the motor like you would normally start the car. If you hear any strange clanking noises or anything then you may have screwed something up (bent valve(s), bent rod). Do a compression test and see if you get consistant numbers. If there is more than a 20 psi variation between any of the cylinders then there is a problem.

If you didn't see any coolant in the oil and there were no strange noises then put in new plugs, refill oil, and reconnect the FI relay. Start it up and hope for the best, after letting it run for 10 minuetes or so change the oil again to get any remaining water out. This is the process I went through when I sucked up water through my CAI in my integra. I got lucky and compression tested @ 250 246 245 245 afterwards. I was only idling at ~750 rpm when it happened which saved me.
