Default HER S2000 - it apparently makes a diffrence

Eight weeks after the transition, where my wife took over the S2000, I think she's hooked. With a little help form me, she waxed it Saturday and spent much of Sunday detailing it, and this morning e-mailed me to say she drove into the office top-down despite the dash readout indicating 41 degrees F. She's pushing hard for a new top (fair enough), who knows what other mods she'll want.

Her previous cars have been semi-enthusiast's cars (two VW GTI's, Nissan 200SX SE-R, Acura RSX-S) but she's showing a lot of interest in this one -- and making a point of how she likes it better than the Boxster.

How do you like the Boxster? Is it a GTS? Nice car.

Nice going!!

But I'm still trying to figure out how you convinced your wife to take the "old" S2000 and let you get a new Boxster!!

What I got was a base Boxster, Guards red with tan interior; I stayed away from the more complicated and expensive options, only getting the sport suspension, the sport seats and sport steering wheel. This kept cost and weight down but meant a special order, it took 4-1/2 months. As long as I have enough handling, 265HP is enough.

Seriously -- it was her idea! I only suggested that at ten years old, it was time to think about parting with her Acura RSX-S, and there was nothing on the market new that she wanted (of course, in three more years the S2000 will also be ten years old). She got an inheritance when her mother passed away, and she spent part of it buying me the Porsche.

PDK on that Boxster? Prolly the best auto-tranny/paddle pony around, IMHO. The Boxster weighs a bit more than the S2000, right? Power/weight ratio is about the same, for the base model versus the S2K? How do you like the powerband versus the Honda? Better low-end torque?

Both seem like the best late model roadsters around. For the price. The 355 Berlinetta Spyder is my all time dream car. But I digress...

Thanks!

My wife (note: I'm only married for a month) loved the S when she first drove it. 3k rpms and she was feeling she was going fast, gripping more on the wheel.
She loved driving top-down and even learning how to reach 50 mph by aggressively changing through the gears making the engine moan (or so she thought).
(something that of course she normally does not do on her diesel Golf)

After I 'scared' her a couple of times showing the real strength of the car, she never drove it again..

BTW - I think she tricked you by giving you the Boxster!

Not only do I have to talk my wife into riding passenger in my S, even on the most beautiful of days (70F, sunny), I also have to talk her into having the top down while I drive (convertible top, not her top ).

Then, as we're driving she constantly has her hands over her eyes and makes a moaning sound (not the good kind). It's so dumb. And that's even when I grandma the sh** out of my driving while she's in the car lol.

My wife lasted only two "real" rides, as passenger. Once to Mount Wilson and once to Monterey (via Hwy 1). After, several road side pit stops and some Dramamine --- never again on those winding roads.

Nice purchase! I'd love to have a Boxster/911 one day, but I'm waiting for the right opportunity. My brother has a 987 Boxster S and that thing hauls ass! The most surprising part is the curb weight difference is only 90 lbs, even though the Boxster is much bigger on the inside and out. S2000 sounds good in VTEC, but the flat-6 is in another league. The only part I don't like about the car is the (oem short) shifter. It feels like crap, but obviously I'm spoiled by the S2000's shifter.
