Here are the total S2000 sales in the US
This gets asked a lot, so I thought I'd throw it out. Here's how it breaks down.

One thing to also remember number wise...there was a factory shutdown and move this year(I think 1-1.5 months production lost), as a result there will be less supply, should be somewhat lower sales but may be on track to equal last years numbers
Actually looks like S2000 sales are down significantly; 35% down from the 2000/2001 peak. The plant switch-over this year would have had little or no impact on sales numbers since most buyers would have waited the extra 4-6 weeks for the significantly different 2004 model.
Don't think that the major changes made to the 2004 model drove sales up the way Honda wished; too many other options out there compared to 4 years ago. Hard to see Honda sticking with a product selling less than 8,000 units a year in the U.S.; don't know what the future holds for the S2000.
I plan to take very good care of the one I've got in case Honda does pull the plug on the S2000 in a few years.

Great so we should have over 35,000 members here. Lets do a huge meet..

Lets subtract about 10,000 units off the total for the ones that didnt replace their S02's and sent their S to car heaven.

So yes the shutdown will affect numbers simply because supply is restricted. You can't sell what you don't have. Also sales numbers may not mean anything. The one factor that is important is how long that S2000 stays on dealers lots, if they sell well and are remain on honda lots for a smaller period of time then there is no reason to kill it. THe fact is that US sales may not be indicative of much, what you need to see is total sales. Production is partitioned among the world and it could be the US recieved a smaller share due to higher demand in other contries. Contrary to popular belief the US isn't the center of the universe. Merely looking at the sales in US doesn't tell you anything.
Also the S2000 value is more than it's number of sales, it will also draw in people to honda dealerships. Now the fact is that once they get to the dealer they may decide the s2000 isn't practicle enough for them and buy an accord. It is much more of a show car than it ever is as monetary winner. It draws people into the dealerships.
