Default hey texans need some advice...

Gotta drive from galveston to shreveport in a couple of weeks for a job interview. what is the fastest route. would be leaving on a friday afternoon between 4 and 6pm. thanks.

Well, that may get you into Louisiana, but it's certainly not the most direct route to Shreveport.

Personally, I'd take Hwy 59 north out of Houston. Last time I was on 59 north around downtown Houston, there was a fair amount of road contruction so I'd recommend taking the east 610 loop to 59 north.

Follow 59 north until you get to Carthage and then take Hwy 79 north until you intersect I-20 near the Texas / Louisiana border and that will take you right into Shreveport. Total drive time from Galveston will (I'm guessing here) probably be around 5 to 5.5 hours.

I10 at the TX LA border has massive constuction going on. Plan on long delays.
