mporreca01:

From the very first S 2000 that came out in '99, all these cars have had xenon HID lights on the low beams -- the ones you use the most. The high beams have always been, I believe hallogen. There have been many improvements in hallogen headlights since then, including reflector and projector hallogen. But they can't touch xenon. You'll like them!

F that shit, it like asking grocery employee if chicken of the sea chicken or tuna when you can just read the label. I know we are here to help, and s2ki forum to me is the EASIEST forum to use, like SEARCH. Unless it's subjective question, but a question like wether any current new model car come with HID or not when you could just go on yahoo, click on auto, and click on standard equipment.
I hope that when you grow up and need a lawyer and he says to you its so easy to look it up on the net or the university librery then come talk to me if you need real help. If you guys are not going to help, don't say anything. Carp like that will come back and will hit you twice as hard. cheers

I agree that rudeness to somebody who simply asks a question is just plain bad! When I was looking to buy my "01 AP1 new, back in '01, I had never heard of HID or xenon headlights! So when the salesman said that the S2k had them standard, I had to ask what they were! They weren't that common then, and they still aren't. Other than the S2k, I can think of few cars on which they are standard, and aren't even offered on most of the car makes and models being sold today. And on the other cars on which they are standard, you don't get much change back (if any) for your $100K bill!

So for anybody new to the "upscale" car scene (and that includes many folks) HIDs and xenons are a mystery. So if you have to ask what these are, it does not mean you are stupid. Rather it means you are moving up in the automotive world. Congratulations, not rude comments, are in order.

Asking about the if S2000 has HID when every year has had them standard is like asking if the car has VTEC. It might be a straight question or it might be a smartass question. You might get a straight answer or a smartass answer. I was leaning to the smartass answer. I would have said that only the upgraded AP2 model came with them and that they were deleted from the CR to save weight

The OP got both answers so it worked out.

Honestly trying to make this community grow with these remarks is a bit counter-productive. I would like to see s2ki.com grow larger and larger if possible...but being rude and inconsiderate would steer potential members away from our community.

ZX11:

It is highly predictable that somebody without a lot of automotive experience will ask if the s2k has VTEC someday. And that is a valid question, as comparatively few cars on the market have it. For example, it's only been in the past couple of years that Mercedes-Benz has offered a "milder" version of VTEC on a couple of its V6s. I don't think Ford, GM, or Chrysler know what it is either! It has only recently come out on some Nissan/Infiniti models.

Some of these features are not that common, considering the very small percentage of new cars sold that have them. I suggest it is good that there are some out there who want to learn about these more advanced automotive features, instead of just buying the same old Tarus again. We need to be civil to them.

Funny you say that. My neighbour and I both race Porsches and that we both drive our S2000s almost daily. I got talking to him about internet car forums at our last track outing. When I mention about the S2K forum, he replied," They are bunch of pimple face kids there having a pissing contest. I don't waste my time there. I just take it to the dealer, they make me less angry". This is one of those situtation, too bad. I have had some good people help me out here, for those that did, thanks. so for the others, if you don't like it, don't answer.

It's always tricky balancing n00b questions with a good signal/noise ratio on forum sites. IMO the OP really should have at least looked at the manufacturer's site for info before posting the question. It would have been very easy to answer on one's own.
