I own a 2001 S2000 with about 8600 miles. I was driving home from work one day, and I noticed that the headlight on the passenger side was much bluer in color than normal. I looked at the car from the front tonight, and sure enough, passenger side bulb has a blue color to it, while driver side is the good ole white color.

Has anyone else run into problems like this? I can't imagine that this is normal? Is this the sign of a bulb getting ready to burn out? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with HID lighting systems and their little nuances. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Edit: Forgot to ask, the manual recommends against us changing our own low beam bulbs. What safeguards must be taken in order for us to change out own HID bulb (if it comes to that?) Just disconnect the negative battery cable? Thanks.

wow, i have not had that happen, but i would be too afraid to change it my self...if your going to dish out the money for a bulb, might as well have the dealer do it....besides, its a pain to get to...gotta go through the wheel well. Or so ive heard. Sorry i couldnt be of more help...good luck.

I seem to remember that the bluer, the newer... try a search. There was a bunch of info about HID's, how they work, etc a while back...

while we're on the subject... my friends HID's are different in color than mine??? why is that. we parked em side by side and his are MUCH more purple than mine! both our cars are at the same height and the headlights are shining at the same spot on the wall when we park em side by side... and yes... we both has s200's LOL (2002)
so why are his more purple and mine look more like an audi TT?

Hmmm... I was asking about the same problem in this thread:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=96585

but nobody gave me a good answer. Even my friend said the driver's side seemed brighter last week. Funny thing is, the other night I saw an S2000 on the other side of the street, and his lights were perfectly normal. I wonder

Are you comparing brightness by staring at both lights from the same height? Remember, the passenger-side light is aimed higher than the driver-side, and with the lens system on our cars, there is a definite banding of colors at different angles. You will see purple in the passenger-side first, then scrunch down another foot and see the same purple on the drivers-side....it's all in the angle.

Very true MacGyver, but for my car it seems to be the opposite. I don't know why? Both lights are lined up properly.

I am a real jerk. I thought my HID's were out of alignment, so I moved the driver side one up level with the passenger side. Now I blind everyone

Look dudes, it's the nature of lighting and the projector lenses itself that make things look wacko . The color the headlights throw off is very dependent on a number of factors. A big number.

Y'all got some sort of HID fetish it sounds like.
