H22 preludes rev high at highway speeds too.

My 5th gen is at 4k rpm when cruising at 80mph. I've even had passengers think I'm in 3rd gear and that I need to switch gears.

Is it really normal? I was going like 80mph, it almost to 5000rpm. I almost hit 90mph and it was it like up to 6000 rpm, it soo crazy. I own a lexus SC300 and I thought that rpm was high when it was on the highway, like I was going 80mph, it was at 4000rpm and now compare to this s2000, it made my lexus look normal. LOL
Do you not understand? All hondas have short gears cause of there lack of torque so they can accelerate faster. Most sports cars are like that, the reason the lexus doesnt do that is because it is NOT a sports car so it has longer gears. duh!

SC300 is a sport car FYI, it has a 2jz, and if you saying supra isn't a sport car, then I'm clueless.

Anyways, I'm not here to rant on the s2000, I'm just saying it amazing.

JFusion is mostly right. A lot of newer cars with 6spds are 5 speed close ratio + 1 overdrive or 4 close ratio, 2 OD. Honda decided to make use of all 6 gears, and they're all very close.

Keep in mind though, that at 4K rpm you're not even halfway through the s2000's redline!
To put it in other terms, if you're rocking a V8 @ 4K RPM at 80, with a redline at 6K, you're at a higher percentage of total useable RPM when compared with a AP2 5K RPM with a redline of 8.5K
that's how I always look at high rpm Honda motors, base the highway cruising rpms against the total available rpm band limit. So running over 4000 rpms on an 8000+ rpm limit isn't so crazy. These cars actually accelerate pretty well at highway speeds, the higher gearing multiplies the engine torque quite a bit so you have the power to move.

If my ap1 had gearing to give it highway rpms like you may find in more average vehicles (i.e. 2,500-3,000) it would be so slow I'd have to slit my wrists, lol.
