Default High RPM on highway speed

Is it really normal? I was going like 80mph, it almost to 5000rpm. I almost hit 90mph and it was it like up to 6000 rpm, it soo crazy. I own a lexus SC300 and I thought that rpm was high when it was on the highway, like I was going 80mph, it was at 4000rpm and now compare to this s2000, it made my lexus look normal. LOL

did you do any research on the S2000 before you got it ?, that has been at the center of every review ever made on the S2000. That's how Honda decided to extract power out of such a small engine, otherwise it would have been a dudd.

Not really, bought the car for enjoyment as weekend cruiser. Not taking to the track or something. Just wanted to share my thoughts which really amazes me.

The lexus redline like 6.1 rpm...

Sounds like you've got aftermarket rear gearing, OEM would be ~4200rpm at 80mph.

JFusion is mostly right. A lot of newer cars with 6spds are 5 speed close ratio + 1 overdrive or 4 close ratio, 2 OD. Honda decided to make use of all 6 gears, and they're all very close.

Keep in mind though, that at 4K rpm you're not even halfway through the s2000's redline!
To put it in other terms, if you're rocking a V8 @ 4K RPM at 80, with a redline at 6K, you're at a higher percentage of total useable RPM when compared with a AP2 5K RPM with a redline of 8.5K

Yeah that's normal man, I usually cruise just above 70 so my rpms stay around 4000. Congrats on the car too.

If it makes you feel any better.

My 600CC sport bike is running about 9,000 rpms in 6th gear at 80 mph.
