i feel uncomfortable driving above 80 or so on the freeway for long periods of time. i know it's all in my head, but in many cars, i feel like it's wasting gas, it's noisier and less safe. so i end up around 70 in the middle lane, unless i feel like a spurt of speed. anyone else feel similar?
You should be in the right-most lane unlesss you're passing.

I travel frequently between Vancouver and Seattle and cruise consistently at 90-95mph in either of my cars (I ususally slow down to 85 when the speed limit drops to 60). I didn't buy this car for it's fuel economy...

Speed is relative. I've lived in other countries and have driven tens of thousands of miles on the autobahn. When I drive on the Autobahn I consistently travel in excess of 130mph for hundreds of miles at a time. It's a great way to cover long distances at an amazing rate.

I used to have a boosted civic, that I felt comfortable cruising anywhere from 90 to 120mph. Now that I have the S I cant seem to get past 75-80 without feeling uncomfortable. Guess I gotta get used to the ride.

Get yourself fresh tires, alignment and drivers education, you should feel fine.

I felt fine at 90 in my Integra, but I haven't "cruised" past 80 yet in the S. I seem to be more focused on scanning for cops then actually driving. I dunno, I just feel a cop would pull someone over in a nice sports car fatser then they would a sedan.

Statistics show that 70mph is about as fast as most people are comfortable traveling.
97% of all statistics are made up on the spot

hahaha..i typically drive REALLY slowly. If the speed limit is 65, I'm cruising at 75 max.
Really slow would be below the speed limit, not 10 mph above it.

Personally when I'm on the highway here in Canada, I travel at 125 km/h (77.68 mph), and I find my fuel economy is pretty good. (speed limit is only 110 km/h on the highway here, 15 over is about the edge of where cops start to take notice).

In the US I go 85 to 90 mph, and usually my fuel economy isn't much worse. I think a lot of that is due to the fact that you don't have to speed up/slow down as much for slower vehicles, as you're already one of the faster cars on the road at that speed, so you can usually get away with just sitting in the left lane.
