The highest I have seen around where I live is 93. I wish I could find something higher.

There are numerous ways to measure octane. What we use in the States is an average, and the 93 you see may be more equivalent to 96-98 measured differently.

There are plenty of posts and web resources regarding octane, just don't get sucked into the numbers game because octane is a lab measurement that is done differently for different applications.

Just keep in mind that higher octane does not equate to higher performance unless your engine needs it. With NA S2000s the 93 seems to be adequate under most conditions.

Go to your local airport and pick up some Av-gas....104 Octane, and it won't be 4 bucks a gallon.

Aviation fuel are leaded. I think I remember reading somewhere that the lead in the fuel actually provides lubrication for the engine.

For those thinking of aviation gas, it will be tricky to buy. No airport will let you directly load your car since the fuel doesn't have highway taxes and all the other pleasures the Govt charges us for. But they will usually allow you to load containers.

Now if you have a buddy at the pump... That's another story.

And as for leaded vs. unleaded, I think it is leaded thought I'm not sure.
