Default Highway RPMs

I recently bought an S and I want to see if there are any modifications to the drive train.

My RPMs are at 4k at 70 MPH. Is this the stock speed?

Thank you for your reply. I have no torque problems though. Why does everyone talk about the lack of torque? I know my mods help a little but I think the S moves nicely at moderate RPM.

Drive an M3 and you'll see the difference.

My other ride is a Toyota Land Cruiser, so the S tq feels nice, but then I drive my friends M3 and the S tq feels like a civic.

what are your mods? I seriously get annoyed with the lack of torque on this car down low. I come from a mustang background so i got used to the low end torque. But i do love revving to 9k though!

It is all relative like the other guy said. If you step out of a car with a very torquey motor like a straight 6 or a V8, you're going to notice a "lack of torque". I say put your man pants on and stop whining lol. I think mine has NO lack of torque...but my other car is an EM1.

70MPH and 4K is just about right for an AP1. It's roughly the same gearing as my EM1.

I have come from a mustang background as well. To me this car is great. I don't have as much torque as the mustang does of course but my mid range power is great. I'm not nearly as sloppy when I go WOT either.

My car came with Invidia exhaust and a AEM CAI V2. I'm still trying to figure out what other mods I have. That is why I posted the original post. I will check to see if I have a test pipe this weekend. If I don't that will be my first power mod. It has a stock header by the way.

Is there a decent priced ECU chip (Something pretuned) I can buy for my S2000 to give me more power until I am able to go forced induction. It will take me years to get that money

There aren't any dynos or tuners around me so I can't really get a real tune without traveling to get it.

I think that's the correct AP1 gearing. I drive my AP2 at 4000rpm and I'm exactly at 75mph.

Here's what I usually see:
3rd gear @ 4000rpm = err....I forgot
4rd gear @ 4000rpm = ~50mph
5th gear @ 4000rpm = ~60mph
6th gear @ 4000rpm = ~75mph

Funny, I came from a Mustang as well before the S2000. Everyone else I know has had nothing but 4 cylinders, and the were always blown away by having so much torque at like 1500-2000rpms. I was just kind of used to it. I knew the S2000 wouldn't have any bottom end going into it, but up top totally makes up for it.

I came from a long list of cars including an 03 Cobra and an 03 Evo and, in comparison to those cars, this car has NO torque lol
