No car ever built is free of design flaws, and ours is no exception. ONE of the S2000's flaws is the "open mouth" stock grill (if you can call it that) which allows bugs and rocks to block and/or damage radiator and condensor. Coastal Metal's grill is designed to reduce these problems. But in doing so, it (of necessity) reduces the grill area air intake by some number of total square inches (or a fraction of a square inch). Depending on your climate, this reduction of air intake area may or may not be of any significance. During our brutally hot Oklahoma summers, any reduction of grill air intake area might not be the best idea for best sustained performance. During our brutally cold Oklahoma winters, it would be a great idea!

In any event, I doubt that this grill addition has ever caused any "collateral mechanical damage" to any S2k. And all the dyno tests I've ever had run were with the car in a stationary position, eliminating any claimed air flow or ram air effect from their results.

Here in Oklahoma, somebody (I don't know or care who) is selling replacement grills for a number of different cars which consist of narrow chrome bars placed horizontally and very close together. Now THESE would have a significant air blockage problem. The Coastal Metals grill? I think we are splitting hairs. Not enough blockage area.

(PS: I don't own one.)

Thanks,
Richard
