Default Hit hard bump going thru construction

While traveling thru lovely Tifton, Georgia at 1 a.m. last weekend, the lady and I went thru a construction area that included a rather hard transition to an overpass (probably about a 1-2 inch step up). It came up quick, without warning and, as you can imagine, resulted in a helluva thump and a bit of a bang from the rear. I crawled around a bit underneath looking at everything, thumping on this, tugging on that, and could find no obvious damage. There is no evidence that the sub-frame made contact but there was a definite bang/crack. Car tracks and sounds fine and I don't see any need for an alignment check but I will keep an eye on tire wear and handling. The questions I have are what would be the some of the first things to break in a situation like this. Rim damage, tire failure, other? Was the bang likely just the suspension hitting it's stops? Anyone have a similar experience? I am not losing any sleep over this as I have found no evidence of a problem, but if anyone has suggestions I would appreciate them. Thanks.

Man that crap happens so much in Miami I don't even notice it anymore. Every street here is under construction.

Except in LA. The roads are terrible here, one reason I don't want to lower my car.

Bent control arm or damage to ball joint. On each four corner's, grab the wheel with both hands, try to shake it from side to side rather hard and check for play in the ball joints. If you feel something unusual, take it to a proffesional.

The bang may have been caused by the hard, sudden impact of the bump. I doubt that the suspension compressed all the way to the stops. No damage, no worries, nothing you can do about it now.

Better double check with an alignment. I hit a pothole last December and I thought I was fine. After further inspection, found out I had dented one wheel on both the outer and inner rim. Pretty hard to see until you get right up close. Car was also misaligned a tad bit. Not too bad though considering that pothole was pretty bad.
