Actually, if you hit the rev-limiter your warranty can be voided. The ECU has a counter for each time that the rev limiter is hit. It also has a multiplier based on what gear you're in. E.g., if you're in 4th gear and you hit the rev-limiter, then that counter is incremented 4 times. If you're in 3rd gear and you hit the rev limiter twice, then the counter gets incremented 6 times (3x2). If the counter value is greater than 2, then the dealer will not honor your warranty.

Fortunately, there is a bug in the ECU software. If you hit the rev limiter in Reverse, the counter will actually be decremented. So, if you hit the rev-limiter in 2nd gear, then that means that you need to take the car out (preferably to a big, open parking lot) and stick it in reverse and take her all the way up to 9K RPMs. You'll need to do that twice to get the counter back from 2 to zero. Be careful, because going 35-40mph in Reverse can get tricky.

I take no responsibility for any fool that actually goes out and actually tries this.
hahahahah

that is some of the most beautifully sculpted bullshit I've seen in a while. and while it may be artistic... in the end, it's just b.s.

And people say that the public school system stifles creativity.

No, seriously. I doubt it works the same in your Z06, but if you swap a pre-04 S2000 ECU into it, you can do the same thing. I hear the bug has been fixed in the 2004+ ECUs. They found it when they were working on the code to lower the rev-limiter from 9K to 8K RPMs.

Yeah, I'm just screwin' around. If somebody actually plans to try hitting the rev-limiter in reverse, be sure you take your camcorder.

Seriously though, in a 91-92 MR2 turbo if you go in reverse it takes miles off of the odometer. No joking... I lost $20 in a bet due to this

Get a shift beeper from the marketplace so you can live at the redline and never think twice about the rev limiter...

Oh my Lord!

You car is ruined.

But I'll be willing to take it off your hands; that way you won't have to pay for scrapping it.
