Default Hit and run

I got hit in my new car tonight by a drunk driver. He stopped got out of his car yelled at me, jumped back in and drove off when I started to call the cops. Cop came, gave license of car, model, and description of the guy. They think they will not catch him?????? He was so drunk you could smell it pouring out of his car 10 feet away, bars don't smell as bad as he did.
Interesting fact per the highway patrol, I could have used force to stop him from leaving the scene . He was about 55 years old and 150lbs. I thought about it but figured I would get sued or a disease, there were witnesses. Just a scuff on the bumper of my car since it was only at 2 or 3 mph, not the worst thing in the world. Had the car 1 month now

if it's like NC, the cops have to be at the scene to charge him with D.U.I. They CAN, however, still at least charge him with leaving the scene of an accident.

No matter what, he'll never be charged for drunk driving. Leaving the scene is another thing (though not as bad).

YEAH, I'd have...

reacted completely differently if I were in his situation than I say I would sitting here behind my computer screen.

If you've never been in that situation, then don't comment on your actions IF you were.

I was in too much disbelief to be mad. I kept the story short, there was also a fugly hooker who got out of his car and ran away after I started to call the cops. The girl was screaming of coarse, don't know what she was saying, I was trying to focus on getting his plates and description. My only regret is I did not hold him there to pay for drunk driving. It only needs a rear bumper re-spray since only the paint was scratched, not much of a hit and run just a bummer.
I have his pate numbers and will keep my eye open, if I see him I am going to call the cops on him for driving drunk. More than likely this is a habit.

I'm surprised the cops didn't go looking for him, they usually go out of their way to catch drunk drivers.

When I was building my house a guy in a pickup stopped and started loading lumber in his truck. My neighbor turned on her lights and scared him away but got his plate number. I called the cops and they spotted his truck about an hour later and pulled him over. He had about $10 in 2x4's in his truck but ended up going to jail because he was drunk when they pulled him over.
