I would have.....

1. held him until the cops got there
2. followed him..my guess is you could have kept up
3. kicked his car

same thing happened to me two month ago drunk driver hit me and ran off, I should of beat his ass but I hesitated, next time I won't think twice. Also my car is still in the shop after 2 months now, almost ready.......

Most of the time if the cop isn't there then they won't go after them. I do auto claims all day long and see all kinds of reports where someone was drunk and fled the scene, cops ran the plates, went to the house, talked to the guy, could smell alcohol, and then never charged him saying he probably was drunk but he wasn't driving when they talked to him so they won't press the issue. Usually it is on the report that they will forward the case to the DA for possible hit and run charges, usually only if injuries are involved however. Just give the plate # to your insurance company, they will run it, find his info, and try to get the money from him to repay your deductible (if you have it repaired through your insurance)
