Wow, sorry to hear about the bad luck man. I agree with everyone so far, if it were me i'd take the $13.5 and run with it. Just seems like it'd be a pain to try and part it out and make the $ difference up in the 2 different figures, but thats just me.

Good luck...

That sucks......

The 13.5K is the easiest and quickest way to move on......

Though, there might have been at least two people looking for new engines.

Seats, dash, diff, tail lights, boot might all help fetch a better return.

my best guess is the engine is fine. the transmission felt fine, and i'm almost positive the exhaust is fine.

if that's the case, would i be able to make up the 4.5K difference? like most have suggested, the quick and easy way to move on is to take the 13.5K, so unless i could part it out for 5.5K+, i probably would take the money and run.

Yup unless you're confident you can part out and make more than 13.5k I would just total it. Unless the time and energy spent parting it would make a substantial bit more than 13.5 I wouldn't bother.

Wow, sorry to hear that man. Like everyone said, just take the money. See if you can remove some things off the car if they'll allow you that you added (like intake, headunit, etc.). I had a couple of friends who's cars get totaled backed in the day, and they allowed us to goto the place where it was towed to and remove the stereo. Technically, I'm not sure they have to let you do that, but many places won't mind.

Wow that sucks. I agree, take the money and run. You wont really make a profit if you part it out. You can easily buy an 02 or 03 s2k with that money! or a different car if you preferred.

I just searched autotrader for s2k's under $14k and I found about 15 of them within 100 miles. Most of them had between 50k-90k on the odo. Three of them were ap2's. All of them looked like they were in decent shape.
I'd take the money and get another S. If you kick in a few thousand more you can find one with lower mileage.
