Anyway, the mufflers/tips are stainless steel. The piping I am not sure. It seems a little light for SS, but could be. It does have a nice powdercoat like substance over it, so I dont know. I have been driving in NYC through the winter, with all the salt and snow, and there isnt so much as a spec of rust on the exhaust.

As far as quality...Ive put in a number of exhausts on in the past few months, some S2k, some not, and this is the best quality, best fitting, exhaust Ive put on, on anyone's car. The only other exhaust that compared to this quality was Eisemann for my friend's m3. The welds, the fitment of parts, etc.....Just for comparison...Ive installed A Fuji, tanabe, blitz, APS (good quality as well) HKS Carbon, and Remus.
The piping is mild steel....I had coated mine w/ high temp paint (similar to caliper paint, but spray on)....

I had a HKS on my AP1 Spa and it's a good sounding exhaust but I don't see how you guys can say no drone???

Made at least (x2) 700 mile trips to Portland and with the top up, it definitely drones unless you are either going really fast in 6th gear or running at higher RPM's. As with any car you can adjust your speed/gear to avoid drone but I know it's definitely there.

Quality of the HKS was average - mine was an older one so it had aluminized piping.

For my new AP2, I definitely do not want any drone so most likely going full Comptech although I have to admit the AP2 oem tips are awesome so I may cut/weld those back onto the Comptech

Another exhaust similiar to Comptech worth considering is the Tanabe Medallion unit.

here are some pics of the HKS on my AP1:

HKS looks cheap, Comptech more of a solid looking exhaust imo.

The HKS doesn't look cheap, it doesnt sound cheap, and frankly, it isn't cheap.

The only thing I'm worried about is rust. Mine is a daily driver and it got a healthy dosage of salt and road shit after this years winter.

If you look at them up close, the HKS is much "higher end" feeling than comptech. The welds are robotic, the coating and fit are first rate....

I dont see how you can say the HKS looks cheap....

Dont mistake light, for cheap.

Since the exaust is in sections, and it is lighter than OEM, they do feel cheap. The first time I picked up a Veilside TearDrop, I thought it was plastic.

Oh well, cant please everyone. I think its one of the nicest exhausts Ive ever handled, and Ive handled A LOT of exhausts.

As an unbiased observer I have to agree. It may not be built cheaply, but the design style looks cheap IMO. The cans/tips look much like a garden variety Civic exhaust to me. I guess it's all personal preference though as some people like that look.

exactly.....I enjoyed both, I was just giving my personal experience since I had both.....to ask someone who owns a HKS if he thinks the Comptech is better, and vise versa, the answer will most likely be biased.
