Default HKS Custom Exhaust?

Well money is tight for me but I want modify my exhaust either find a cheap used or this idea......HKS custom. Now I love the sound of the HKS system, but it's alittle pricey brand new, and i'm not finding used ones for sale in my price range $300 or so. So here is my idea, I can ge a universal HKS muffler for around $220, i was thinking of cutting one side of the exhaust off and capping it, and cutting off the other muffler and welding the HKS can on it, now would this work, would the kinda signature HKS sound be there? and thoughts? I see this as also a weight loss for my car which would be good for autox which i participate in once a month.

If u can cut it, you can probably afford some pipe...Just get the piping from the cat-back done...

So are you saying just build a catback exhaust from scratch and have the shop bend the pipe? how much do you think that would run?

if you do get a custom piping your car will be loud.
I have it done on my accord and its loud as a mofo.
lot of other people who have done it also says its loud
as far as performance goes Im sure you are better off with a full system.
If you just cut and insert the muffler, you are not getting much power

Yeah i'm not caring too much about power, the sound and dropping weight is what i'm mostly concerned about, most aftermarket systems don't gain much power anyways.
