I had HondaCare on my 2000 Civic Si and never used it once before totalling that car one year later.

I had AcuraCare on my 2001 Type R and never used it once before having the car stolen four years later.

I could still get HondaCare on my 2002 S2000, but the local dealer tried to sell me on something else for $1400 (for five years from now, another 60k mi). Looking at it, the only thing that I would expect to go pop would be the diff, and they'd call that abuse anyway. Honestly, I'm starting to trust Honda enough to think that extended warranties are indeed a waste of dough.

okay if you don't beat your car to death I don't think you would need the hondacare warranty.....and beside they would deny you on any warranty if you have ANY kind of mod on your car....which reminds me I need to go cancel my hondacare warranty and take back some of that extra money as you can see why in my signature.....

I recently purchased Hondacare for my 02. Got a great deal from hardtopguy.com. My car had 23000 miles, dealer offered 7yr/75K/$0 ded for $1200, HT Guy offered the same for $935. Got it as I purchased the car used
and not knowing how the car was broken in (I have service history however) and the high tech, high compression engine, I decided to buy it. If I bought the car new, I would definitely not get it. I have owned many Hondas and this is the first one I bought the extended warranty for as I am pretty sure I will be keeping it for a long time.

Its worthless if you mod your car as all claims will be denied by HondaCare. Its a contract not a warranty.

^that's a point that can be argued.

I have it, I would get it and the feds say you can modify your car and that honda must prove the mod caused the problem in order to not honor the warranty.

excel, trust me I've done a lot of research into HondaCare. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act only covers warranties, which HondaCare is not. HondaCare is a contract, like insurance. If you read the fine print, it states that the contract is voided if the car is modded in any way, shape or form.

I debated getting HondaCare myself since my factory warranty just ran out, but my S2000 is modded. Even so I figure I would use it only in the event of a major failure, like engine, transmission or rear differential but Honda will bring out the "you abused your car" line anyways so its worthless to me.

If your S2000 is not modded and you don't plan on modding it, then it might be a good option.

Ok, here's my take, and I've used HondaCare for at least 2 major repairs.

1. I bought my car with 32k on the odo and 2 yrs into the factory warranty.
2. I don't plan on burning any money on mods until the car is paid off, and if you're just buying your first S, you should learn the car stock first anyway.
3. IF I buy the HondaCare, it will run out about 2 months from payoff date, not a bad compromise.

So, I bought HondaCare, this way, since I'm not modding until it's paid for, I can feel safe to know that it will get fixed if anything goes wrong.

So far, the rear pinion gear broke and had to be repaired, HondaCare sent out a rep and paid the next day while putting me in a rental. Est Value: $600 in labor, parts, and rentals.
And, the rear CV inner cups just replaced, HondaCare didn't even have to send a rep, they paid without complaint.
Value: $225x2 for the cups, 4x$70 an hour for labor, and 1 days rental. Value: $750

Total so far: $1350 or so by my rough guestimations. Now this is in cost to me, not to HondaCare since I figure they would get a price reduction due to quantity. This doesn't even include the small things like the window regulator replaced after warranty was up. Now I still have what...3 yrs on my warranty and ~47k miles, something tells me the $1500 I paid for it was well spent.

I have honda care, i regret getting it tho. If there's something wrong with the engine and they blame it on my coilovers then i don't know what to say...

I bought 7yr/100k for $1200. Haven't had any reason to use it yet.

As mentioned above, if your car is modded just forget about it.

Other than that, it's just a calculated risk. If you look at it as an insurance policy for mechanical breakdowns, it could make sense over the long term. S2000 repairs can get expensive fast so having the warranty makes me happy, but a lot of other people view Honda Care as money flushed down the toilet.
