Default honda clutches suck

clutch started to slip at 3000 miles once in a while. clutch definitely slips during high rpm operation at 4800 miles
clutch will be covered under warranty because of the fact of low mileage...
i do not abuse my car at all. yes i get on it once in a while but that shouldnt really affect the clutch at this mileage....
i hate honda oem clutch
ill be putting in a stage 3 clutchmasters if replacement is needed
anybody had the same problem?

My wife's '95 GS-R has 125k miles on it and the original clutch feels great. Maybe you have been trying some high RPM launches?

I heard somewhere that the OEM clutches are actually made by ACT. Is there any truth to this? In that case, it can't be THAT bad right?

Just about 50,000 on mine. No problems.

I've heard of super charged cars with stock clutches, with out problems.

Manufactures defect?

My '03 goes in next week. It slips when I shift quickly. 4500 miles. I don't launch hard or powershift.

mikecl713,

That doesn't sound right. It sounds like you got a bad clutch to begin with. I have 45k on my '02 clutch, a couple of people have learned stick on the car, and the clutch still seems fine. It definitely shouldn't start dying at a few thousand miles.

I've put over 50,000 miles on my 3 Honda's now and none of them have ever shown any signs of clutch wear. I even learned to drive on my first Honda ('00 Civic), and I taught my brother how to drive manual on my S2000.
