When merging on to the highway, I keep it in either 2nd or 3rd depending on how fast im going. When the acceraltion lane comes up I jump on it, vo la' im in vtec heaven singing the sweet song of DOHC. When I have to pass I simply get the car in neutral, rev up to desired rpm for the lower gear, downshift and im off like a rocket. Hope that helps. Im sure someone will have a better description.

Oops, I forgot the part where I should have said I was at a standstill - sorry about that. LOL, of course I would just downshift if I was already on the move.

Absolutely! A good clean fast clutch engagement while engine is at an idle, followed by the foot to the floor. The first second may seem like not enough is happening, but it will.

I have almost 5000 miles on my '03 with no problems. Clutch should last at least 80K miles or more with one driver. If not, then there is a problem with either a defective clutch or you're beatin' the shit out of it. -Ken

they said clutch "exploded" possibly misaligned ever so slighty from factory
something is fishy and it is not my driving at all
i learned to drive stick on a porsche 911, and i drove around in my buddies civic si. and before the s2k i had a mini cooper s.
they will be replacing everything, flywheel, pp and clutch under warranty....

That's great. Curious, though. How many miles were on it when you took delivery. May have been a victim of testdriveitis...
