Default Honda OEM Hardtop compatibility for the different years

How many different hardtop versions did Honda produce and what years are they compatible with? I've seen references to Honda OEM hardtops only fitting certain years of s2000.

I have a 2007 s2000 and looking for a OEM hardtop so just trying to understand the differences?

Thanks

OEM hardtops will work with any year S2000, hardtop hardware will need to be purchased and installed to mount the top.

^ The physical hardtop and brackets are the same, regardless of year. The only difference is the defroster wiring. I think the 00-01 might need something additional on the chassis side but it doesn't sound like that's your problem. I just bought one for my 06. You just need the right brackets and the right defroster harness, or re-pin a 00-05 harness for the 06+. The 06+ harness has been discontinued but you can still find them. I paid about $90 to have one from Japan shipped out on ebay. That is if you want the defroster. I don't really need the defroster but I spent a ton on the top and know that parts are only going to be tougher to come by.

There's a link that I posted on here a few weeks ago about how to re-pin the 00-05 harness for an 06+. I had it bookmarked but deleted it. You can find it pretty easily by searching.

The differance is all about the car model year and the defroster. The OEM hard was was the same for all years. The early 00-01, there was a VIN number cut off, the center console was plastic welded for the change holder. You needed a new center console to install the switches for the defroster in the console. The Late 01-03 (IIRC) higher you did not a new center console. Then in 04 they added support into the car, with that the sub harness changes. So there is a 00-03 sub harness and a 04-09 sub harness.

Note: This was off the top of my head and I have not thought about this in a long time. This does remind me to pull the sub harness from my car before I sell it.
