Honda Owes Me....
Funny thing happened to me. A few days after I picked up my S2000, I saw a guy and his teenage son checking out my car at the parking lot at work. I am amazed at how many times a day I witness this. This time was a little different. He came into the store and asked if it was my car. He then asked me all kinds of questions about it...how much, what are the payments, how do I like it, etc. It was cool talking to him...he really liked the car. Well, a month later, guess who shows up at my work again? And guess what he is driving? A Sebring/Black S2000 identical to mine!!
He just picked it up the night before. Wow...I was stunned. It is cool to think he bought the car after checking mine out. I told him about s2ki.com, so hopefully he'll come join us. I think Honda owes me some kind of spiff for promoting their product
. Are any of you responsible for converting people out there?

The sad truth of the matter is that Honda is really making a shit show out of a potential boon for them in the way of advertising. We, the enthusiastic owners, are far better salespeople for these cars then most dealers are. We know much more about the cars, care about the cars, and for the most part can speak intelligently and realistically about the good and potential bad points.
Mazda, for example, utilizes their enthusiastic owners. They actively pursued members of SOCALM (the local Miata club) to work the last few LA Auto Shows. Miata philes would wear SOCALM gear and then hang out around the Miatas to answer any questions or give feedback. What a tremendous resource for the car company. You know what it cost Mazda? A couple of show passes and then some cool giveaways (Zoom Zoom stickers, for example) that were mailed to participants as a thank you. It might sound dumb, but to an enthusiastic Miata owner that was a nice touch.
To me, it shows that Mazda has its head in the game. Honda does not.
Honda, IMO, should be involved with S2KCA. Honda, IMO, should be sponsoring owner events (be it driver education or owner feedback). Honda should be soliciting our opinions. All of these things build owner loyalty, increased brand recognition, and more importantly stoke the enthusiasts fire.
Honda are you listening????

Miata club is cool. Mazda organization sucks - I don't care how many zoom zoom stickers they give away. I fully intended to buy a Miata at one time but was treated so poorly by numerous dealerships and their corporate headquaters that I gave up. No need to go into the details but I'm damn glad I didn't.
Do you know how many of us have actually sold the S2K to other people just by talking about it. We all should be getting comissions from Honda. Like Da Hapa says, we do a better job than the salesmen, and we know the car much better. AHM really needs to step up to the plate and give something back to us.
