Default Honda Reduces Hardtop Price

There's a press release on the Honda web site that states the retail price of the OEM hardtop is now only $2500.

I imagine the dealer price is 20% to 30% less than this, so finding one for just over $2000 may now be possible.

Read the info here:

Hardtops are a harder sale now that the 2002 comes with a glass rear window. Plus now you have to buy a installation kit too. That wasn't needed for 2001 and jacks the price back up a bit.

Also note that they no longer include a custom VIN plate.

Mikey,

Thanks for the info. Why do you think the dealer price will be less? I'm thinking that it will be the same price, b/c they probably hope that no one knows about this press release. I'm willing to bet, if I called my dealer right now and asked them how much the hard top is, they would say some absurd amount.

This is the same dealer that said that there will be no hard top for the S2000. The same dealer that said there would be no '02 S2000. And many other bogues info...

WOW - thanks man!
My '02 S2 is on the February allotment and is due in April. The Hardtop is the only option I have ordered from Honda.

Hondaccessories only took 200 bucks off the $3,000. Even if they took the same amount off the $2,500, it still comes to 2,300 + shipping and shipping is expensive.

I am now looking into getting one from a NH dealer. If it's $2,200 or lower, I'll take it over the Mugen one.
