I'm pretty sure the 02 model has a VINYL console. Have you felt it????
Anyway. My radio door is closed 99.99999999999% of the time, there could be a village of trolls in there and I wouldnt know it.
That pocket on the tranny is meant to store the manual. Try it.
There is no door storage to maximize inside room. Get into a boxter and then into an S. Boxter has some door storage we dont. I think you'll like the room more.
The lock thing was obviously dont for simplicity sake. Do you need an unlock button to clutter things up. There is enough crap on the door now.
The cup holder was probably an afterthought. Its also where the ash tray goes. Whats quite innovative is its warming feature!
I dont use it much.
I would have liked an oil pressure gauge, and possibly an add on option of an auto-dimming rearview with outside temp, but aside from that everything is great.

cruise control on this car - it's not really cruise control, it's ticket control. I use it all the time on the highway to keep the S in the 1 point and under ticket range. If I don't use cruise control, she tricks me into going way over the speed limit.
1.-excluded the electronic passenger door lock ? It's only the unlock that is the problem. Hit the remote twice before getting in the car and it will unlock both doors.
2.-excluded a onboard clock ? They left this out on purpose. They had to actually disable the clock feature on the radio. I guess it was one of the throw-backs to the S500. Clocks were extra priced options in cars until the 1980's.
3.-made a cup holder that makes shifting awkward. Ask instead what's a cup holder doing in this car anyway!
4.-removed any door storage . I guess storage just wasn't a priority. There's is not a front glove compartment.
5. -installed carpet on in and around the console. So Rick could turn his leather fetish into a profitable money making business
6. -the purpose of the netting beside the passenger foot. First you complain about no storage, now you complain that there is too much storage?!
The S was not designed to be a luxury sports car, just a high performance, balls to the wall as close to a race car as you can get in a production car, kind of car. It's designed to provide a driving experience, it's not supposed to be a mobile office, make up vanity, wet bar, etc. If you look around, the only luxury you'll find is performance.

I remember Car and Driver mentioning the clock issue when the S first came out. They said that Honda purposly left it out because you shouldn'd be thinking of time when your enjoying the drive...or some BS like that. I keep gas station receipts in my net after i learned they fly out of the car with the top down (give a hoot) I don't have a cup holder in mine...just a wallet holder

I guess that I could take the antenna off, which would make it fit and would also make it lighter as well. Hmmmmm.
All these talks about cups, let's talk about glasses.
"Some people see the glass half full, and some see the glass empty, and yet others don't see the glass at all," we all heard this before.
Some S owners are happy w/ what we got, some are complaining about the little things, while others don't even own an S.
When the S first came out, I didn't care about any of these I just wanted one really badly. Now I finally got one, I'm just glad I got one and loving every minute of it, and you don't need a clock to know that.

I'm like LT'S S2K. I've waited for this car for a long time (decades) and now that I have it, it's just fantastic. I don't care if it has a clock or not. I have one and don't use it. I also don't use the stereo either. I like to listen to the car's normal noises. My most significant "mod" to date is the set of snow tires mounted on my spare wheels, waiting in the garage. Oh, I did remove the silly looking tape around the windshield, also.
I love my car, just the way that it is.
