Honda s2000 GT edition?
AP2 is a chassis designation, not engine.
wow look at what i started lol, but any who; dont you guys think it reminds you of a s2k type r attempt. I always heard that they kept the f20 instead of the f22 b/c it was more fun to drive and i agree (but to be honest, i never test drove a ap2 with f22c hehe)
- Europe only
- Grand Prix White
- F20C
- Red interior
- Red shift-boot stitching
- Same shift knob as CR, but with red lettering
- Unique badging
- The "ultimate" term is in the sense of "final," not "best."

It's no more Type R than any other S2000, IMO. (Which all are quite Type R to me, FWIW.)
Also, the S2000 GT was simply a normal S2000 that came with a hardtop, and was available in a variety of colors. (And it too was Europe only.)
There was also the S2000 RJ, signed by Jenson and Rubens. 50 made, all sold in France, Spain and Italy.

Excellent post.
And much appreciated.
Why doesn't the USDM get cool cars like the rest of world? Our money not good enough? And don't bring up the "too small demand" argument, the US market could easily absorb the small units they release globally. I still lust for a true Type R NSX or even the Civic RR.
I've updated the Ultimate Edition list with the shift knob info, thanks.
(A shift knob doesn't a Type R make, IMO. Still no more of a Type R attempt than the standard S2000, or even the CR, in my mind.)

Your bashing the guy for asking about the differences between s2000s on an s2000 forum.

My point is that for Honda to release a special edition 10 years later and with the improvements and tweaks they made, they decided to put the famous and more distinctive 9000 rpm engine in it. From a purist standpoint, the original engine was truly distinctive at the time with its hp per liter and 9000 redline. The Ap2 0r 2.2liter engine was a response to please some of the U.S. market.
I read somewhere that the inventor of the Vtech Ikuo Kajitani engine didn't particularly like the change Honda made to go with larger engine and lower redline and referred to it as an "impractical solution".
