Honda S2000 mag from Japan (Bandwidth challenging post)
I picked up this mag from the local Mitsuwa market (R.I.P. Yaohans). I have been a member here over a year and never seen this book mentioned so I thought I would throw a few teasers out there for you all. If any moderator wants to add any of these scans or any other info to the Library let me know, I have the full size scans in higher resolution. The book is 130 pages and full of all the info on the S2000. Interviews with designers, prototype sketches and photos, detailed blueprints of the suspension, info on S500, S800, etc. Unfortunately I can't read Japanese. Awesome photos though.
Wonderful photos of the factory assembly. I've seen most of the other engine and frame shots, etc. at other sites/books but I've never seen the assembly photos anywhere before.
I tried copying that page but it came back as .png (whatever that is) so that didn't work. I tried enlarging it to see better but that didn't work.
Since there's probably no way of getting the book itself, is it possible for you or someone to take these factory shots and make them available. It looks like they were scanned in as .jpg but it doesn't read that way when I tried to copy. I'm not sure what the best way would be. If I lived near you I come and take photos of the photos with my digital camera, if nothing else works.
Anyways great photos, I just wish I could see them better and could get a copy for my files.
I live few blocks from Mitsuwa and can read some Kanji characters. I also work for a Japanese company so no problem to get some text translated if it's worth. Tell me: did this look like a periodical, i.e., other copies with different contents? Did they have more copies? How much?
The only problem is I am going to have to use a razor blade and slice out the pages in order to get nice clean scans. The stupid binding crease ruins the scans. No biggee I guess as the book was only 30 bucks but I don't think I will be able to find another copy. I am still willing to cut it apart for the board archives though. I'll take one for the team!
This was the only CG "Special Edition" they had although I can tell from the intro they have released similar books about other models of cars.
