Default Honda Shame???

I have seen this a few times before but today was by far the worst. There is a Sebring Silver/Black S2000 parked at one of my offices quite often. Today was the first time I really took a look at it. The car not only had the front and rear "H" emblems removed and side S2000 emblems removed, but the "H"'s on the center caps were covered. I then looked inside the car and they had the "H" on the steering wheel covered as well. I understand the idea of liking a "Clean" look on the body, but to go so far as to cover the "H"'s on the center cap and the steering wheel? I bet they even removed the plate on the step over. Sure seems to me like this is a sign of shame over owning a Honda. Thoughts?

It's only shame if they've removed the owners manual too!

What was the VIN?

Was it a pre-production car?

No. It is a Sebring Silver which was only available in 2002 or later. It also has the new console cover and shift knob. It is definately a production model car.

There are also many here who removed the "H" and replace them with an "S". I agree with what VinceD stated about the mystique. Some owners like to be asked what it is. However, I've had mine for almost 2 years and there are still people who ask what it is and I never removed the "H" or the "S2000".

That is nothing different than putting 'S' badges introduced by one of us.

I've seen people do this, and while I don't understand it, they have a right to do what they want. I don't think it is shame. Anyone who knows anything about cars would be able to recognize the S2000 with or without the badges. If he/she was ashamed of owning a Honda, they could have bought a Boxster.

I think you should seek this person out and get the rest of the story!

I vote for mystique as opposed to shame. I have S badges front and rear, but I still have H on the wheels and steering wheel. Most people don't know what it is, even in LA. I like that. I feel as rare and unique as a Viper. Actually I saw two the other day. No s2000 though. Plus - I like the H on the steering wheel, but the nose and rear badges are kinda boring, if the nose had a nice shiny round metal emblem with a simple black H in it like the steering wheel, I'd probably leave it.

On the subject of removing badges and Boxsters, I've never seen one with no Porsche emblems on it. Hmmm.. Maybe emblem removers should be forced to drive a Boxster!
