Honda Warrenty?
Hey im about to purchase a 02 s2k and it has a few months of warrenty left. is it Transferable or not. How do i go aobut transfering it from the previous owner to me. Also is a extended warrenty REALLY worth it. my parents want me to get it but i dont want to spend another 1k on a warrenty that i dont know if its worth it.
I bought my MY02 2 months ago from a dealer. It was sold as a Certified Used car. I don't know what that means other than they add 12 months to the 36 month initial warranty. I also bought the "7 year" warranty for $1600, but just today I cancelled it--if you cancel it in the first 60 days you get all of your money back. For me, I felt that the three extra real years that the extended warranty covered wasn't necessary. I have two full years of warranty now, and I guess if anything breaks after that I'll just take my $1600 and apply it towards the repair. I doubt most repairs are over $1600. If it is, oh well, but I suspect that my chances are pretty good. Of course, YMMV.
Cheers

I got just in case. Example turbos went bad on my 300zxTT $3k job. What if something got sucked into my engine bay or something freak accident or crazy then it gets replaced for free by the warranty and no more big $$$ bills. Just peace of mind for me due to bad past experiances.
The original 3 year 36k mile warranty goes with the vehicle, doesn't matter how many owners the vehicle goes thru. Extended warranties, (Honda Care) can be purchased at any time during that period, and can be transferred to subsequent owners. Hope this helps you.
I believe the factory warranty is transferrable.
As far as an extended warranty goes, that's your call. Some people have them and have been worth it. Some people have them and never needed it. Same goes for people without it.
Also keep in mind that many items are not covered by an extended warranty. It's important to read the fine print.
That being said, you'll have to look at your financial situation. If you have a decent amount in savings or "emergency" funds, you might decide that you'll take your chances and bet that the chances of major mechanical failure is slim. Or, if you're strapped for cash, an extended warranty may be a good idea.
Good luck.
