Default Just Bought S2k From Private Seller...

I just bought an s2k in great condition... everything is running perfect, the car looks new and I absolutely love it! however, I was wondering if the 36,000 mile warranty is transferrable when the car is sold to a different owner, and whether I can buy the extended warranty (75k or 100k miles)?

I believe the factory warranty is transferrable, but I'm not sure. Also, you should have no problem purchasing an extended warranty.

I'm very sure that the factory 36,000 mile warranty carries over regardless of how many times the car has changed ownership. You might want to double check by calling your local dealership or American Honda.

As for extended, I believe you can still purchase it so long as the car is still within the factory warranty through "Honda Care" (I guess you can consider Honda Care the official warranty of Honda - even though I'm assuming they operate like an insurance company underneath it all just like many other warranty companies).

The owner of the 2001 model I purchased a few months ago bought the Honda Care warranty just before the factory warranty expired. It's a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty and I think he got it for around $1000 or so. Honda care warranties are only transferable ONCE so if you decide to sell your car, the next buyer has an incentive.

Oh if you decide to sell your car sometime in the future and you have gone through Honda Care, make sure the new owner transfers the warranty within 15 days!!! If not, they are out of luck.

There are other choices besides Honda Care, try your local dealership. I think a member(s) on s2ki so offers an extended warranty as well.

Good luck and Congrats!!!
