Default Hondacare Cancellation

I bought the Hondacare warranty when I bought my car and after reading on S2ki, Ive come to the realization I got gipped and I want out if possible.

I've read on here it has to be cancelled within 60 days of purchase, but I talked to a few S2000s owners that work at Honda that said it can be cancelled at any time. Whats the word before I go in asking for it be closed out and I get shut down?

Thanks

you can do it anytime. if you do it with in the first 90days, you will get the full amount back, after that is is prorated. Dealers do not like you to cancel it with in 90days because they get charged back and comes out of their gross, but what ever.

They do not cut you a check direct if you are financing the car. Your payments will not drop, but your principal will go down.

How much was it? are you sure you want to get rid of it?

you can cancel now and always re-purchase it before your warranty is up if you think you will need it. I have seen it help alot of people, but its like health ins. you may not ever need it, but if you do, you'll be glad you had it.

lmk if you have any questions... I sell them

Well there are alternatives out there warranty wise which I am considering - I've just heard bad things about Hondacare and if they want to credit my principle - I'm fine with that. Thanks for the reply.

You've heard bad things about HondaCare? The third party warranty providers are the ones you have to worry about because they are not honored at all the dealers.

In regards to your question though, it can be cancelled at anytime. There is a cancellation charge, depending on your state after the initial ninety days. Everything pierceman said is factual, I sell them as well.

How much does the hondacare warranty cost? I didn't know that they prorated it. I want money because I hate the warranty.

Mine was around $2100 I think, but you get the money back if you don't make any claims

^ only if you make no claims in the first 90 days, you get $0 back if you keep it for the whole term (say 6yrs and 100k or what ever you got), even if you never use it. It is insurance coverage, and you will be pro-rated depending on when you cancel it.

They range from about 500-2300 depending on coverage and term and miles

I sell extended warranties for cars as well and i've seen them help a ton of people. I had Hondacare on 2 of my cars and it saved my ass both times. My 98 accord blew three transmissions, an altenator, and my front right suspension in 15 months. I never paid a ded or anything and all was taken care of with no drama. Hondacare is by far superior to anything I sell, we sell good stuff but in my own experience I would buy a Hondacare over ours for the positive past experience.

sales rep here. All my Hondas have HondaCare on them. Stuff's too expensive with labor to chance it, IMO. Everyone else has been correct about the prorating, and will come off your principle if you have a note on the car.
