Default Hood Insulation Pad Off For Years and Paint

Has anyone had their under hood insulation pad off for years now?

What negative affect, if any, has it had on your paint. Any bad signs.

May not help but, i had the insul. off my Nissan Sentra SER Spec V and it has a front mounted header w/o a heat sheild. No problem for the 9 months before i sold it, sometimes after a hard drive the hood would steam in the rain :-)

I've had mine off for about a year now, no negative effects at all. Like mentioned, the CR doesn't come with one...which is what inspired me to leave mine off after I took it off to clean. It also makes the engine noise a tad louder too.

just don't forget to put it back on if you sell the car cause i always notice if a car has the ins. or not...could mean previous accident.

what about those of us that are FI? would it benefit helping the heat in the bay escape if it were taken out?

ewww ya unpainted? weird. Makes me wanna check. But i do think under-hood beams (when painted) looks the best at shows, especially w a J's intake or ITBs

I have had mine off for 5 years, no obvious negative impact. When I took mine off I had the front end repainted, at that time they sprayed the bottom of the hood with a sound deadner that sets up hard (instead of soft like the rubbery undercoating stuff).
