Default HOPEFULLY buying a 2002 S2K this weekend

As always this forum is by far the most helpful of those that I am a part of. I used to own a 2003 SSM and it was AMAZING, I was going to jump to an AP2 for a different experience, but at this price point/mileage it would just be silly (I'll post the car, mileage, and price after I wrap up the deal).

So I've been away from the S2k for a while and I forget some of the things I should look out for... I know to listen for the TCT tick, trans grind, diff whine, top wear, etc. What else should i look out for?

ALSO, I REALLY need someone to point out the differences between the 02 and 03 so I can take proper car of the car. Thanks guys I'm literally losing sleep with excitement.

2000-2003
Oil banjo bolts were revised
Cracked retainers after mechanical over rev
Spark plug torque issues
Axle nut torque issues

All Years
Wheel bearings can go bad and are pricey.
Shifting problems. Don't skip shift
Oil consumption. This is difficult to evaluate prior to buying but potential owners should read up on it.
Stolen seats
Soft top tears and holes
Using incorrect jack points

Aside from all of the things in the FAQ...would highly recommend a compression test and a used oil analysis (if you have time)...since I drove about 800 miles to pick mine up I had the UOA done ahead of time. When that came back clean I did the compression test myself

Also, top wear is almost guaranteed on a MY02. My MY03 has two nice sized rips, but it's extremely rare that I drive her with the top up so gorilla tape works for me

You can check clutch wear by slowing down to about 25mph and gunning it in 3rd, see if any slippage occurs. Also check the master cylinder for leaks, Matching VIN # under hood/trunk etc. Make sure the car doesnt pull left or right (when not on a rutted road). Unusual tirewear too.
