There's a lot more to traction then tread depth. With your miles I'd assume those things were the originals, or the second set. 11 year old tires don't perform well.

Glad your okay! On Friday I got a blowout going 75 on the interstate in my 2000 Silverstone with you guessed it 25,000 miles. Your my cars twin of 25,000 mile 2000 bad luck. At the end of the day, it's just a car and luckily it's a lot easier to fix then a broken bone or something worse. Best of luck getting her fixed.

They don't need to be bald to compromise wet traction and quite a few people overlook the fact that the inners tend to wear faster. Glad no one was hurt though.

Glad no one was hurt. I've had a few close calls with my S on good tires on a damp road taking a turn. Takes some real getting used to.

Glad nobody was hurt as well. So what if your not as good/bad a driver as the next guy. The car can always be fixed. I have learned this the very hard way myself when I got rear ended by a bus. Nothing in my control at all.

i like to cosider myself a "good" driver that can handle correcting a slide. ive dont a few drift events and spend alot of time with my buddies doing some parking lot/road drifting. of course being safe as possible with no other cars around or any other traffic. but it just caught me off guard. even the best driver have bad days....at least that what i tell myself to make me feel better.
