Default Is A Hot Shift Knob Normal?

Howdy y'all, I'm a relatively new owner of a 2004. I've noticed that after leaving the car for 15-45 minutes, when I get in, the shift knob is quite warm, some might say hot. At first I thought it was the Texas sun, but with our recent spate of cool cloudy days, I'm still seeing the issue, and the cockpit (top up) is cool when I open the door. Has anyone else noticed this?

I've found on my MY04, the top aluminum part of the knob will heat up significantly from any sun shine it's exposed to. It's not gotten bad enough, in my case, to be a problem but I have read posts on the forum that complained that it can get hot enough to cause blisters, especially if you opt for one of the aftermarket, solid aluminum or titanium shift knobs.

I just use the leather wrap area in this case until it cools down after driving the car a bit. It's, so far, been a minor inconvenience at best. Hope it works the same for you!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Normal. The shift lever goes directly into the top of the transmission, which is in turn bolted to the engine. As the engine and tranny heat up and soaks, heat will be transmitted up through the shifter lever. Not an issue unless it is too hot for comfort.

I dunno about you all, but those knob covers look extremely ugly to me.
