Default Next Generation S2000

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum and I am sure this has been discussed in vein before, but the search does not work, so here is my question:

What do you know about next generation S2000? My g35c lease expires in early 2006 and I am really looking to get into s2k. I understand there

No one really knows, but you can make an educated guess by how Honda does its model upgrades. Every two years, minor cosmetic changes and simple mechanical fixes/changes. Four-five years major platform change.

The S2000 is a little different since it is a low volume niche car. 2004 just got a stroked engine, and a bunch of suspension and other mechanical changes. Can be considered a major change (it actually has a new chassis id AP2 vs. AP1), so 2005 nothing significant, 2006 maybe some minor mechanical tweaks depending on owner feedback. Probably nothing that would effect autocross performance. You can wait for the new Miata before deciding and monitor the 2004+ S2000 performance in AStock.

I heard that they may even nix the idea of S along with the NSX, but who really knows.

I read in july's issue of Automobile magazine while getting my hair cut--they cut the HSC concept as the next NSX, and will probably stop the NSX for now. They also mentioned that the S future is very uncertain past 05. It said that Honda was looking to put their resources into the next RL.

Automobile magazine doesn't know what they're talking about. I'm surprised anyone even reads their magazine after all the rumors I've seen them start and not have actually happen.

Honda did put a lot of resources into the new RL, but now that we're so close to release date, it doesn't seem that Honda had much difficulty with bringing the new RL out and still keeping up production of their other automobiles.

While discontinuing the S2000 seems like a possibility, discontinuing the NSX is not. Honda needs it's supercar, in my opinion.

I also don't think the S2000 is going to go anywhere considering that after 5 model years, it's still a leader in the pack of it's class of automobiles. It's good being King.

Hello; first time post-er

F&FM I have wanted an s2k for the longest time
But finally the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel (late this year)

I have read the posts frequently and find them informative and entertaining

My question in this topic is how long was the del sol around and what were the sales of that car? Maybe that gives some insight (pun intended) to the s2000's future.
