What approach did you take to report the condition of your rear window? Did you call Honda Care or did you visit your local dealer?

I have no complaints with my local dealer, but I'd bet they'd rather sell me more polish than goodwill a new rear window.

kinda ot, sorry but ist about hardtopguy....the spa yellow hardtops are for sale at 1800 and the rest are at 2500 red/blue/black/silver right?
first question: would it be cheaper to buy a spa yellow, sand it yourself and have it repainted to the finish of your car?
second question: how much would it be with shipping?

i'm assuming i would be installing it myself.

It might be cheaper to get it painted because $700 for paint seems like A LOT for such a small item. Remember though it's Alluminum.

I went to my dealer first. I showed them how it creased and scratched form just one fold down after polishing it and he agreed that the window was not in good shape. He then went back for about 20 min and then came out and gave me a sheet that shows how to remove creases and scratches, but I told him I did all of that. He also gave me a number of a place where I need to buy that "noodle" to help reduce the chances of creases. He said since it was out of warranty that this was the best he could do. I then told him I had Honda Care and he then switched to saying that he would be willing to refurbish the window at no cost as long as I show proof that I bought the noodle. I did not like that at all. The noodle costs $57 and since Honda dealers know the top has that design flaw they should pay for it as a goodwill. So I wasn't happy with that decision so I told him I would think about it. The next day I call Honda 800-999-1009 and told them my story. For those who haven't called them before you state your case to a rep and then the transfer it to a manager who gets back to you in about 48 hrs. Once the manager called right off the bat he asked me what I thought would be the best way to go around it. I told him that I would like a new window and the noodle so I can start fresh and take care of it day one (the old window was not under my care because I bought it in June 04). He had no hesitation and said they will do that. It was after that I realized the price of the hardtop and just threw out the wild card of them contributing towards it and they did.
