Your car is fine. There's nothing to worry about at all. It's called a rev limiter because it stops you from over revving. Now, downshift overrevving will make you cry.

hitting the limiter for a split second doesnt do anything, its there to save your motor. but bouncing off the limiter for extended periods puts unecessary stress on the motor (dunno who would be stupid enough to do this)

Now ya know how high you can shift before the limiter kicks in

You'll usually see 2 flashes before the limiter kicks in. If I'm going WOT, I'll shift after I see the second flash. It's perfectly normal.

I have a very difficult time trying to watch the tach while trying to shift near redline.

That's why soon I'll be getting Modifry's shift beeper.

Modifry's shift beeper is one of the cheapest, best functional mods you can make. I love mine and highly recommend it to anyone

IMO, the best thing about it is when you're trying to merge or maneuver in heavy traffic and can't take your eyes off the road.

When I autocross, I'll sometimes sit at the rev limiter for a second at a time. It's perfectly normal and fine.

The concern comes in if that rev limiter never engages! Then there's certainly a problem!
