I hit the rev limiter all the time on auto-x. It's so quiet compare to some other cars... it could put me to sleep...

As long as you do not stand on the gas and run it with the rev limiter engaged theres no problems . It drives me crazy to see how some will stand on it running the rev limiter for 15 - 20 second or more . Im waiting to hear the engine shred .

I had this happen a once for a few seconds...on my old S13 Sr20det I was driving and my throttle cable came loose. So I couldn't accelerate but had enough momentum that I could pull into a parking lot. Well I put it on and it was a lil too tight. Turned on the car and it just shot up to heaven! I should of just attached it with the car on.

i need a exhaust cutout.

I actually enjoy the quiet stock exhaust. It's not too loud, but just enough.

Your car is fine. There's nothing to worry about at all. It's called a rev limiter because it stops you from over revving. Now, downshift overrevving will make you cry.

If rev limiter is bad for your car, then car manufacturers would lower the redline ... etc

Hitting the rev limiter is fine. I used to do it for years on my Turbo GSR.

I hit it on the S sometimes as well.

I had a Boxster S that I had completely made into a full track car. The guy that built the engine/tranny did not set the rev limiter. I was running the road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway and I completely shreded the engine, Not A Pretty Picture. Needless to say I was not very happy. I took it back to the guy that built it & he replaced it with another race ready engine, which actually had more HP & way more torque. Bottom line this is why they make rev limiters

why would the engine and tranny builder set the rev limiter?

that's done through ECU. That would of been for your Tuner to set it after he retuned your engine.
