Default How best to "un-tame" the beast?

Firstly, thanks for all the infomation I've already read off this board (i'm a reader more than a poster)

I've got loads of questions but i'll save some for later posts (hopefully)

Anyway, I just swapped my beloved elise for the more practical solution that is the s2000 yesterday...I like it and i'm learning to love it. Only problem is being all standard, it's way too quiet for my liking. I've decided on a aem air filter, I can get a used from cheap off an 04 model, will it fit my 00 model?
Also, if that doesn't make it loud enough then would replacing just the rear back boxes do the job? If so, then any recommendations would be appreciated!! I'm aware that the more i spend the better it will be but i can't afford to be doing mainfolds etc just yet.

I'm in the UK and the car is UK spec.

Cheers
Mark

ps. 9000rpm in a car totally rocks!! thats why I want it to be amped up correctly as a priority.

If you want a loud car than buy a single exhaust and slap it on. VERY loud on this car plus you shed some weight and that is always a plus.

I was reading on another thread of just cutting off the mufflers and going straight thru with the resonator as the only sound modifier keeping the cabin quieter and the sound shifted to the rear. I went with cutting the resonater first and then replacing the mufflers with magnaflows and it sounds great. The resonator was probably my mistake because the drone is shifted forward into the cockpit. I am adding soundproofing which is helping my particular drone issue.

my 2 cents...

Think i'd rather stick with two pipes if possible, I can't think if the rear bumper is moulded around them or not but i wouldn't want to go replacing that.
I'm looking at magnaflow exhausts now.
Any ideas about fitting the aem from a '04 to a '00

Cheers

2nd day and you are already hitting 9000 rpm?
is this an used car?
i doubt you hit 966 km on your odometer.

if you want a louder car, just get some good exhaust from out vendors or whatever store available in your area.
price varies but there are pretty cheap ones that are also really good too.

Thanks for the help,
No the car isn't new, it's got 55k on the clock and therfore ripe for the caning.

I'd still like to know about the air filter thing if anybody knows. Is there much difference under the bonet between the models 2000 and 2004

Cheers

Yes the AEM will fit on either one, if you mean you are replacing the stock airbox with the AEM tubing and filter on the end......not just the filter element.

Just stay away from deep puddles!!!

You can remove the airbox lid, this gives a loud induction noise with the trade-off of slight loss of throttle response and a few BHP. It's easy to do, just remove the silver captive clips around the lid and throw it in the boot

Be sure to pop into the UK forum too, you may get more specific help in there
