I'm 5'10".. not a midget, and it fits me just perfect.. with plenty of room to spare ..
I think you may just have too much of your height in your legs.. which is not a good thing for picking a sports cars.. too bad..
guess shorter people do have their advantages..

5'11", a muscular 180 lbs I fit just right, but I certainly wouldn't want to be any bigger. Its quite funny when my 6'7" friend comes for a ride.. I think his head sticks up above the roll hoop/windshield

6' 3" and 200 lbs. it's a bit snug getting in & out, and my right knee hits the radio door if it's left open, but overall I like the way the S2000 fits me just fine.
I've had other cars that had less head and leg room, and none were as much fun.
