Default How can I take off armrest from the cntr console?

How do I take off the arm rest and put a new on? I pulled up the center console and it looks like the arm rest is attached but it doesn't like like I can remove it with a screw driver or hex wrench? I just got the car yesterday so I don't want to screw it up.

Thanks,

Tom

Take a picture or describe better what you mean. If you mean the square elbow rest cover, then pull straight up. if you mean the fake leather cover that goes all around the center tunnel, then $10 trim tool remover.

If you're talking about the metal tunnel between the seats, I don't think you can remove it.

I'm talking about the square perforated leather piece that is attached to the center console. It pulls fine off the back where there are tabs but once the console detached the arm rest is still attached to the rest of the console.

That part is plastic welded to the center console. Take it off and turn it over and you will see what I am talking about. If you remove it, you will have to figure out how to reattach it. Honda made it removable on the 04 console.

I've taken it off a dozen times on my AP1. I just pull up and snap it back in. Maybe I got lucky, but haven't had a problem.

I'm trying to pull it up with a good amount of force and its not coming off. I'll try it some more and hope I don't break anything.

So you are telling me that you took your apart from the rest of the console. That may be true for you, but they are plastci welded together at the factory. The whole unit lifts out of the car, but the leather part does not.

Stratocaster is right, it won't come off, I snapped the armrest off before I could get it disconnected from the center console. I have the whole console out now (minus the part I snapped off of the arm rest) How do I get the remaining piece of the armrest off or am I better off just getting a whole new console?
