how do i change my status from enthusiest to owner??

is this safe? i was wondering the same thing. i kinda feel a little heasatent about putting my vin there. my last car got stolen just dont want another one getting taken

The VIN is stored seperatly from your user record. It is used to validate that you are an owner, and that is is not used by more then one persons. That way we don't have a bunch of "Trolls" using the same VIN. Also the VIN is visable from the out side of your car. Anyone can write it down when every they want. If you enter it into your user record, every you will never see it displayed.

Also the VIN of every car on the road in the US is available to every US citizen. It is part of the public record (Registration). Marketing Firms use them all the time for targeted direct marketing. This is why you get some catalogs that have aftermarket stuff for your car right after you bought it. I got several "Jeep" catalogs within the frst few months after we bought it.
