How did you buy your car?

I wanted to trade in my M3, and wanted something fun and reliable. I needed to get a decent trade value to cure my upside down problem and I also needed to get a big chunk off the dealer price for the same reason.
A dealer in town had two, not in front where they could be purchased and seen, but in some separate building with a bunch of used cars. A white one and yellow one. Both brand new with approximately 20 miles.
So I told the guy I'd give him 29k for the white one. He laughed. I walked. Two minutes later, he calls my cell phone and say ok on the 29k. Good deal. Half the price of the M3 with, in my opinion, all of the fun or maybe even more. I mean, I don't need to worry about some of the stupid garbage I had to worry about with the BMW. Payments chopped in half. I'm only driving like 10 miles a day, so huge auto expenditures just don't make sense.
And honestly, this car is more fun than the BMW. No, it's not as fast; no, it does not have the space/convenience - but the top goes down, I can go plenty fast, it handles very well (like a go-cart) and, like I said, my payments are halved. I haven't had any service done yet with Honda, but if they are even remotely competent they will put BMW to shame or at least the dealers where I live. Over all I give this car a huge

Fell in love in 2000, but since the dealership wouldnt allow test drives, I bought my first heartache. Again in 2k1, same thing....no test drives (not even on a used one!!!), so I bought a headache. In 2k3, I was determined to drive one.....called many places and finally found one that would let me. Drove it and fell in love. Ordered my Spa that week. Never looked back

Geez, I thought I got a good deal until I read this thread. I just bought a flawless silverstone 01 for $21k, it only got 14,000 miles on it though. Pick it up Saturday. Have to store it until april.
OK enough with the smilies.

in 2001 i lusted after one but $5,000 over sticker was not a good thing...and the price was hard fast wherever i went in northern calif...i bought a miata instead, i had one before and this one was nicer...well the car turned out to be a lemon, engine, clutches, brakes, fuel tank, etc....mean time via miata.net i met a fellow car nut who just bought a new S2000, we met and i drove his car, i was sold...forget what you read about these cars they are great and have enough power...so in 2003 i started to look and the price went down to sticker in my area as of the middle of this year....but when i was on the cusp of buying one i found out about the changes that were rumored to come with the 2004...so i waited and read and chose to buy one, essentially without driving a 2004...no regrets and the price was right. some things are worth the wait.

Took my Prelude in for 30k scheduled service. Saw a beautiful Suzuka '04. Licked lips, talked to salesgirl, decided to get a valuation on the Prelude, for grins. (Prelude had gone upside down previously and repaired - I wasn't expecting much.) Got the valuation - it was more than some web sites say I can get for the car if I sell to a private seller and the car had never even seen a door ding! Decided that if I could get that S2000 for a good price, and dealer was giving 17+k for a used Prelude nearly out of warranty that once had been severely damaged, it'd be a no-brainer.
They offered a good deal on the S2000. (Not invoice like some here, but a couple thousand off MSRP.) I drove out with it a few hours later. And of course they waived the $400 30k service charge for the 'lude.
