Default How difficult to install headers?

I just ordered a Mugen 2.2 Header and I was wondering how long does it take to install this on the S2?

If you have to ask, count on 5 hours

1 hour "might" be what it takes for someone who has some mechanical experience and it would be the actual job itself. From the time you first go to get your tools and jack and jackstands to the time you put it all away, count on 2 to 3 hours or more if you've never done such a thing. Only a mechanic in his own shop, with all his tools laid out, might do it in 1 hour.

Though I haven't done this to an S, it definitely took me a long time on other cars. At least 2.5 hours.

The reason I ask is because I've swapped headers on several occasions, however when I had to do it on my 02 Tacoma, it took me about 4-5 hours, the tranny was in way and I ended up having to torch the original manifold to remove it, it was such a headache I would of paid to have someone do it for me.

From what it looks like on the DIY, it seems like a "remove, bolt on" operation, but what does this mean?

After that i started to install the Mugen Header, first i tried it to get it in form under the car. But I can't get it in because of the different header design. I read a post from Prolene, that he uses the oem car jack on the engine to get more space. This method worked like a charm, and i finally got the header in.

Jack the engine?

Would I have to apply any type of grease or adhesive to the gasket? I had to do that on the TRD headers to prevent leaking.

I installed my CT header with no problems using some very nice writeups on this forum. I tried to install it from the top but it wouldn't fit. I had no problems going from the bottom. Took me between 1-2 hours.

took me 1 hr to install it you will need to get the car high up in the air.... i used regular ramps plus a jack to lift it an additional 6-9 inches just to pull the header under the car.

If you need help PM me i can lend you a hand.... it took 2 guys to do my car 1 guy can do it but 2 is better one can watch up top as you guide the old header out and guide it back on.

very simple DIY!

I purcahsed a new Exhast gasket, flange seal ring, and also new manifold nuts. about 58 bucks worth of parts. didn't use any liquid seal on any thing simply bolted it and after 200 miles i retorque the bolts.

I don't know the torque specs of them i basically turn them snug and added 180. when i retorque i did 45 deg additonal. when i checked it after 200 miles none of then needed to be retorqued.
