Default How do I tell if prev. owner changed the HIDs?

So, the more I drive my S and the more I run into other s2000s on the road, the more I think that the dude who owned my car previously changed the bulbs in the HIDs.

Mine seem to be WAY more blue than the other S's I see on the road. I was driving next to another AP2 a few nights ago, both of us had just our low beams on, and my lights made it look like I was driving under water, his looked like daylight. They cast a very noticably blue/purple tone on anything they hit.

Would just the bulb have been changed, or is ita bulb/balast combo?

What color temp are the stock bulbs, and who makes them? I'm going to go have a look-see under my hood.

Honda has them, or just google "D2s bulbs". Stock color is 4300K(elvin). Its not something you can pop the hood to check. You need a T25 "tamper-proof" torx bit to get to the bulb. I would highly recommend taking it to a shop/dealer when/if you have the bulbs.

you don't need that bit, just use some needle nose pliers. those screws aren't tight at all.

yeah, i'm pretty sure it was only the bulb!
i dont see a reason why the owner would change anything else.
its very easy to get the color with PIAA bulbs

D2R and D2S designate what TYPE of HID bulb it is. D2R bulbs are used by reflector housings and D2S are used by projectors. D2Rs have a cap over the front so the light doesnt go out straight. Putting a D2S bulb in a D2R housing causes it to scatter light everywhere, and blind everyone. Stock Honda/Acura HIDs are manufactured by OSRAM, while SOME German cars use Philips. Osram is the #1 OEM HID supplier. However, most cars use a standard OEM size, so they are NOT labeled like H4, H4007, etc. When you say "I need a D2S bulb" you are saying you want a D2S in OEM fitment. Just wanted to clarify.
