Default How do I turn off the check engine light

Hi All,

I added a K&N intake and now the check engine light came on. I just want to turn it off...is there a fuse I could pull to reset it or something else to make it turn off.

Thanks for any help.

perhaps you should actually check to see nothing is wrong?? CEL != maintenance required light?

I should clarify not a new intake but just the K&N filter. The rest is the same....can't imagine that the air filter is not installed properly. Other than that everything is stock.

thanks

It's the second fuse from the top in the right column of the interior fuse box. It is called the backup fuse, 7.5 amp. The 1st (top) slot is empty .

Take it out for 30 seconds. Also recheck your work, vacuum lines, etc.

btw, the maintenance required light is different from the check engine light.

I just checked the car and actually it is the Maintenance Required light that is on.

I didn't realize the car had a both a Maintenance Required light and a Check Engine light.

I read in the manual that things such as not having the gas cap closed with three turns or more etc. can make this light come on. All I have done is take off the old air filter and replace it with just a K&N filter element all hoses etc. are the same.

So to clarify I am looking for how to turn off the Maintenance Required light.

Thank you very much for all the help thus far,

-Jay

Yes, something as simple as a loose fuel cap can throw a cel. To turn off the maintenance required light, with the ignition off, press down on the trip meter and hold down while turning ignition on. Continue to hold down trip meter until maintenance required light goes out, about 2-3 seconds.

Thanks a lot! That did the trick.

I appreciate the help,
