Default How do you fix a soft top?

A friend got a "gash" in their soft top, is there a patch you can buy or do you just have to replace the whole top? any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had a cat (or possibly a squirrel) gash my top. It was on the, err, top of the top. So it was a problem.

I took it to an upholstery shop, they had some of the same material and patched it inside the top so you couldn't tell from the outside. Think they charged me $25 which I very happily paid.

There are strings you can find on this site through the search mode. I patched my own roof after reading such a string and then found that my top was wearing as others had (behind your head just about 3 inches below the top of the curve). I used contact cement and a bluejean cloth patch.

Here is the best thing I have ever used.
http://www.tear-aid.com/

I bought mine from Cabela's

I did not have a hole or a rip which is what this stuff is made for, I used it to add another layer to the inside of the top where it looks stressed so I can avoid a hole in the future.

Wouldn't Type B be the proper kit? Our tops are made of vinyl (PVC).
