How do you program new remotes to your car?

I never noticed my S do that before. You must have a special addition

I tried getting my remote to work on my wife's Acura, and my wife's remote to work on my S, but neither would work.

i just tried programming my remote and it wont work
do the id# on the back have to match the original or can i use anyone?

This may be a stupid question, but since I lost my master key and the remote, I am left with the spare key that doesn't open the lock on the console. Can I program a remote using this key, or do I need to go to honda and buy a new master key first?
